Free & Low Cost Therapy in Cheshire

Insightful Life Access Programme

Therapy should be accessible.

The Insightful Life Access Programme offers a small number of free and reduced-fee counselling and psychotherapy places for people who might otherwise struggle to afford private therapy.

You don’t need to prove that you need help. Just tell us a little about your circumstances and what you feel you could realistically afford.

Ask us about an Access Place

What is the Access Programme?

Private therapy can be life-changing, but for some, the cost can make it feel out of reach.

The Insightful Life Access Programme is our way of making some therapy available at a lower cost – or, where possible, completely free.

Places are offered by individual practitioners who have chosen to take part in the programme, so availability and fees vary.

You can access:

  • Free therapy places
  • Reduced-fee therapy, typically around £20–£30 per session
  • A range of different therapeutic approaches
  • Therapy with practitioners based at our Sandbach and Middlewich centres

Who is it for?

The programme is for people who would like to access therapy but don’t feel able to meet the usual cost of private therapy.

You might be:

  • On a low income or benefits
  • Managing financial difficulties or changing circumstances
  • A student or young adult
  • Experiencing a period of unemployment
  • Caring for others
  • Returning to work
  • Or just finding that the cost of regular private therapy isn’t manageable for you right now

We don’t ask you to provide proof of your finances.

We’ll just ask you what you’re able to realistically afford and what kind of support you’re looking for.

How does it work?

1. Tell us what you’re looking for

Complete our short enquiry form and let us know a little about you, what you’d like support with and what you could realistically afford.

2. We’ll look at what’s available

We’ll consider the practitioners currently offering Access Programme places and look for someone whose experience and approach may be a good fit.

3. Have an initial conversation

You’ll have the opportunity to speak with the practitioner before deciding whether you’d like to work together.

4. Begin therapy

If you’ve found the right fit, your therapist will discuss the arrangements with you, including the fee, if any, and frequency of sessions.

A note about free places

Free therapy places are limited and depend on individual practitioners choosing to offer them.

If a completely free place isn’t available, we may be able to offer a reduced-fee place instead.

Why do we offer this?

Because we believe therapy can change lives.

Insightful Life was created to make good-quality counselling and psychotherapy more accessible within our local communities.

We know that people don’t stop needing support because they can’t afford it, and our Access Programme is one small way we’re trying to change that, within our local communities in Sandbach and Middlewich.
