Whether this is your first time accessing therapy or not, you will likely have some questions. We’ve tried to cover most commonly asked questions below, but please get in touch here if you need anything further.
How much do sessions cost at Insightful Life?
All therapists are self-employed and select their own fees, depending on their training, specialism and approach. This means there is flexibility to find the right fit for you. Many of the practitioners here also provide low-cost or sliding-scale fees if this is needed.
Up-to-date fees for practitioners can be found on their individual websites, or their profiles on Counselling Directory or Psychology Today.
How many sessions will I need and how often do I need to attend?
This varies and isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer. Some people find just a few sessions can be helpful, others prefer longer-term support. Your therapist will discuss what feels right for you.
Do I need to speak with my GP first or have a diagnosis?
No – it isn’t necessary for you to speak with your GP first, although you can if you feel it will help. There is also no need for you to have a diagnosis (such as postnatal depression, anxiety, OCD) – but again, it is fine if you do. Ultimately, if you feel that you need some therapeutic support, then working with the counsellors and therapists here can provide the relief and guidance you need.
Is there parking, access and facilities?
There is designated parking available at the Middlewich Centre. In the unlikely event this parking is taken, there is parking adjacent to this. Access to the premises is via stairs only and wouldn’t be suitable if you cannot manage stairs.
We have a hearing loop installed at the centre to support clients using hearing aids – please let your therapist know if this is needed during your session.
You have access to a toilet at the centre, which is always stocked with free sanitary products (including maternity pads) if these are needed.
Do you offer online or phone sessions?
Yes. Many of our therapists offer sessions in-person at our Middlewich centre, as well as remote sessions online or by phone.
How do I choose the right therapist or counsellor?
We encourage you to read through our practitioner’s profiles to get a sense of their style and areas of expertise. We have written a short guide that may be of help. You may also book an initial consultation (many of our counsellors offer this for free) to see if it feels like a good fit, by contacting them directly. If you are still uncertain, please feel to contact us directly to receive more information.
Do you work with young people as well as adults?
Yes. We have therapists with specialist experience supporting children, young people, couples and families, as well as those who focus on adult clients.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. What you share in therapy is confidential, with only a few legal and safeguarding exceptions. Each therapist will explain this clearly at the start of your work together.
Do you offer group therapy or workshops?
Alongside individual therapy, we also provide space for group sessions, workshops and professional events. Keep an eye on our updates or social media for upcoming opportunities.
